Municipal Budget

Dawson City Council recently approved a 2019 operating budget of $8,086,570 million. The budget, which includes a 10-year capital plan, enables the City to provide the services residents have come to expect while living within our means.

The 2019 budget preserves current service levels and continues investments in projects and plans that will grow a vibrant, sustainable, and environmentally friendly community.

The tax rate for 2019 remains unchanged, with residential properties being levied a tax rate of 1.56% and commercial properties 1.85%. All property classes, however, will see increases to their Waste and Waste Diversion fee to deal with the growing costs of dealing with waste. Nominal increases to other services, including water and sewer rates, have also been applied.

BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS:

Several capital projects are planned for 2019, including exterior painting of the CBC bank, continued improvements to water and sewer infrastructure, and implementation of the town’s trail management plan. Preparing for the future remains a priority for the town, with money set aside in 2019 for planning a metered-water program, waste-diversion center, and new recreation complex.
