Municipal Budget

Annual Budget Process

Each year, Dawson City Council develops an operating and capital budget that guides municipal services, infrastructure investments, and community priorities. The budget ensures the City can continue providing essential services while planning responsibly for the future.

Public input is an important part of the budgeting process. Residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to share their priorities and ideas to help inform Council's budget discussions and decision-making.

The annual budget helps fund services and projects such as:

  • Roads, water, sewer, and waste management infrastructure
  • Parks, trails, and recreational facilities
  • Community development initiatives
  • Protective and emergency services
  • Long-term capital projects and asset renewal
  • Strategic planning and sustainability initiatives

Budget documents, meeting agendas, and updates are available throughout the budget process and are considered by Council before final budget approval.

2027 Budget Engagement

Residents are invited to help shape Dawson's 2027 Budget by sharing feedback on community priorities and service levels.

The City is collecting public feedback through an online survey:

Survey responses received by September 30, 2026, will be included in an initial public feedback report to Council on October 6, 2026.

Comments submitted after September 30 are still welcome and will continue to inform Council's budget deliberations throughout the remainder of the budget process.

Attend a Budget Meeting

Budget meetings are open to the public and community input is welcome throughout the budgeting process.

  • October 27, 2026 - 7:00 p.m.
  • November 10, 2026 - 7:00 p.m.
  • November 24, 2026 - 7:00 p.m.
  • December 8, 2026 - 7:00 p.m.

Meetings can be attended in person, through CFYT 106.9 FM broadcasts, or by accessing meeting materials and Zoom links available through the City's website.
