The Municipal Act provides a set of revenue-generating tools for municipalities. Municipalities currently have two options for raising revenue: municipal service charges (fees) and taxes (property tax and local improvements).
Each year, as part of the annual budget process, Council determines:
- tax rates to be levied upon all taxable real property in the City of Dawson
- what fees and charges make sense for generating revenue in our community
- the amount of funding to be provided for all municipal grant programs including, Community Grants, Recreation Grants, Senior Home Owner Grants, Development Incentive Grants, and Heritage Incentive Grants.
